I would like to tell you about an amazing evangelism opportunity available this summer. Reach the Beach 2024 will start on Monday August 12th and run through Saturday August 17th, 2024. Just in case you’ve never heard of us, Reach the Beach is a weeklong attempt to spread the Good News at Revere Beach, Revere, Massachusetts, the First Public Beach in America. For the entire week we will be on the beach witnessing, handing out tracts, doing servant evangelism. Last year we handed out 3,000 pieces of literature, 2 cases of English bibles, 1 case of Spanish bibles, 1 case of Arabic bibles, and countless free water, coffee, snacks, and pastries. We also have music, drama, and other events to draw people to our tables with the goal of speaking with them about the gospel and praying with them. In Mark 16:15 the Bible says, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.” The City of Revere has 47 different languages in its public school system, and the Boston area has seen a great influx of Immigrants. The one thing all these people groups have in common is on a hot summer’s day they all go to the beach. I can’t think of a better way to go into all the world than to be at the beach spreading the word. Another goal of Reach the Beach is to unify the church, I tell people all the time “It’s not about our church, it’s not about your church, it’s about His church. I call Reach the Beach “The Church without walls. When we are on the beach, we don’t promote a particular church instead we give out a list of Bible believing churches so people can attend a service that is near them.
At the first Reach the Beach in 2008 we noticed many homeless people living on the beach. This touched our hearts so much that we asked the Caring Hearts Ministry to help us and since 2008 Caring Hearts has prepared a meal every Saturday and brought it to the Beach (in cold weather we invite them to the Church) but it didn’t stop there. They also bring Clothes, Shoes, and Socks as they are donated. As people on the beach find shelter or places to live, they still follow up with them and help in any way they are able.
We cannot do this alone! We would ask that you or your church consider helping us in this effort. We need prayer, volunteers, and financial support.
1) Prayer
We need prayer! Please pray for the planning stages of this event as we deal with local and state authorities, for the musicians, for the people who volunteer, for financial support and for good weather. But most of all, pray for the week itself. Our goal for the week is to reach as many people as possible, sharing the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through word and deed. Pray for receptive hearts!
2) Volunteers
For an event this large, a lot of help is needed! Help is needed during the planning stage, and many believers will be needed during the week at the beach passing out tracts and flyers, talking to the beachgoers, helping at the tables, and in a variety of other ways. Even if you can only help for a day, it would be greatly appreciated.
3) Finances
Please prayerfully consider donating to this endeavor. Make checks out to First Congregational Church, 230 Beach St., Revere, MA 02151 and put “Reach the Beach” in the memo section.
We would love to talk with your leadership or come to your Church and give a presentation. Presentations can be 5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes. We can present to a Service, Youth Group, Bible Study, or a leadership team. Please contact us at the number below for more information
